Senior Human Factors Specialist

Radius Innovation & Development is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Human Factors Specialist to join our San Jose team. In this position, you will interface directly with internal team members and clients to execute research plans and create deliverables that inform and inspire a variety of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting primary and secondary research in the healthcare industry. Additional desirable experience is in software, mobile, consumer packaging, and/or consumer electronic segments, utilizing qualitative and quantitative techniques. We are looking for experts that are inspired by translating human capabilities and limitations into product design. Working within our multidisciplinary team structure ensures that the right insights are captured and applied throughout the development process.


Program Management

  • Collect and communicate insights to multidisciplinary teams and clients that help guide design and innovation
  • Lead a variety of research and usability testing programs and teams
  • Champion a human-centric development process
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism
  • Participate in new business development and proposal writing

  • Conceptualize new ways of providing value to our customers

Technical Expertise

  • Design, plan, and execute usability evaluations of small- to large-scale products and applications
  • Develop rigorous frameworks for the evaluation of products as a function of usability principles and best practices
  • Based on user research, create insights and opportunities that lead to compelling design solutions
  • Participate with cross-functional teams in the design and iteration of innovative products and strategies
  • Design and implement new ways to collect, analyze, and envision user insights for product development
  • Experience in human factors in medical devices, including formative and summative testing and the creation of usability engineering file documentation, is desired

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in human factors research and product development, preferably in a consulting environment
  • Master’s degree in related field (e.g., human factors, cognitive psychology, HCI, ergonomics, etc.)
  • Significant experience developing research plans, managing recruitment process, performing contextual research, performing one-on-one and group interviews, observing people in their natural environments, and conducting usability tests
  • Excellent communication, data collection, analytical, writing, and presentation skills
  • Strong, collaborative interpersonal work style
  • Proficient in research presentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, stat packages, and video editing
