AVERY DENNISON MONARCH® TABLETOP PRINTER 1
Radius designs a new future for a legacy brand’s global range of printers.
With its global line of printers lacking a coherent design vision and unreflective of its strong brand promise of innovation worldwide, Avery Dennison looked to Radius to envision how plans for future models could be aligned stylistically across Avery Dennison’s total printer line, with the more immediate hope of applying this visual language to a product already slated for production.
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN / CONCEPTUAL ENGINEERING
“Quite simply, ADTP1 is our best ever RFID encoding and medium-volume printing solution. It is truly a differentiated, best-in-class solution that sets the standard in terms of design and features for our future family of printers.”
Exploring for Opportunities
Partnering with Avery Dennison’s global engineering team across the US, Europe and Asia, engineers explored the product as a whole: considering size and footprint needs, the sustainable materials involved, and the shape for each of the components influencing printer use.
To uphold the company’s mission to build creative, intelligent, and sustainable products, each element of the printers were tested, requiring the team to incorporate key differentiating features into the design to serve as signature features for printer models moving forward. These included a circular window to have clear site of media and the inviting chin element and rounded corners
Delivering the difference
The design-for-manufacture expertise of Radius, partnered with Avery Dennison’s global engineering knowledge, resulted in a powerful standard bearer for the Avery Dennison brand, the Avery Dennison® Monarch® Tabletop Printer 1 (ADTP1).
Innovation. Realized through visionary development.

As Interesting in Form as in Function
The printers would need to stand up to the rigorous printing needs of retail and industrial companies, print at the highest speeds, hold the largest internal label supply capacity available in its class, and lead the industry with options like non-stop RFID label encoding and verification, internal liner take-up, and instant visual identification of printer status.s
