RADIUS PRESENTS ON AUGMENTED REALITY IN HEALTHCARE RESEARCH AND DESIGN
Boston is hosting a pair of back-to-back conferences on user experience in healthcare next week, and Radius Innovation & Development is proud to be part of both events.
Our integrated team of researchers, designers, and engineers have been exploring new ways to bring the promises of Augmented Reality (AR) to medical device development, and we’re looking forward to sharing what we’ve learned.
On March 27th, Laura Chang, Human Factors Specialist, will begin by presenting at the 2018 International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care. As part of the symposium’s Medical and Drug-Delivery Devices track, she will discuss how user research practitioners can integrate current AR technologies with established research approaches, particularly during formative studies. Laura will describe how AR can affect the timing, cost, nature, and outputs of medical human factors research, and will provide practical guidance for when and how to incorporate these technologies within research workflows. She will also discuss how AR enables teams to quickly and representatively capture the impact of physical design choices in user testing.
Then, on March 29th, Bobby Garfield, Senior Human Factors Specialist, and Alex Dupont, User Experience Designer, will lead a technical demonstration at the fourth annual IDSA Medical Design Conference. Bobby and Alex will show how today’s medical device development teams can purposefully select and combine elements of both physical and AR-based prototyping to bring new efficiencies in design iteration, while still enabling robust user feedback. Through case studies and simulated examples, they will share insights on how AR can be integrated seamlessly with traditional design processes and prototyping tools.
Radius and Jabil are strategically investing in the AR technology space; these two talks demonstrate the success of our prior investments and motivate our continued work in this exciting area. Together, we are helping our forward-looking clients turn the promise of AR technology into new health care business value today. How can we help you?
